The weather was fine and we had a good turn out for the shoot.
The scores are on the results page. The shoot was based on a 3/5/6 2×10 fired with the A Whyte being 300 & 500 and the Gellibrand Shield being 500 & 600.
We held the AGM afterwards and that went off without a hitch so its business as usual. See you at the next one, Modern Mc Queens.
WORK PARTY 18 May
The workparty is on Saturday 18 May commencing between 9 and 9.30 am
Please could you bring along some tools, creosote brushes and paint containers for the creosoting, plus crowbars, hammers drills etc to disassemble the 100 yard hut,
We need to, sort out the 100 yard hut, put in a new bridge andhand rail at 100, fix the new McQueen target, renew some of the steps and all sorts of things. Any help would be appreciated. There may be some sand to shift as well.
The club doesnt run itself so if you can help then please do.
Scores now posted to the Results page. Great day and well shot all. If you werent there Why Not?
Some pictures from today.
For historic reasons we (I) have been reluctant to make much of the contact feature as there have been issues with all manner of unpleasantness in the past. That aside the ddrccttee@bt etc email address has been playing up and I can only get messages if I log directly into the server (I don’t do this often). I cant get anywhere with fixing this so please don’t use it any more as it wont get looked at.
We have a new general communication email for club items at
– should work a bit better.
Dont forget the Work Party on 18 May and the AGM on 9 June.
The Kirby Cup is a 2 x 7 at 3/5 & 6 The AGM is on the 9 June, not after the shoot (long story)
Scores on the results page, well shot to everyone. Not may people but we all had a good shoot so your loss.
The next one is Service Rifle so we will see you then.
Dont forget the Work Party on 18 MAy and the AGM on 9 June.
Good turn out on a chilly but pleasant day. Over 50 scores recorded and we managed to move things along reasonably promptly. The results are on the scores page.
The main competition was for Classic Sniper Rifles at 200 yards but the moderns shot as well. It is a smaller scoring rings on the 200 McQueens and a particularly small V bull.
This was reflected in the scores but there were some good results. The top classic shot was Neil B with 45.2 (the No 4 had a modern scope) but we will let him off with this once.
Kevin M and Dean H both managed 50.2’s that is good shooting on this surprisingly difficult shoot.
Anyway it was a good day and worth turning up for.
The next shoot is a Queens 1 (2×7 at 300, 500 & 600) TR rifles shoot first but open to all and the AGM follows the shoot in the club house.
Scores are on the results page – Well shot all. The shuffle round of the details seemed to make it go a bit quicker so we will probably stick with that until we decide to change it again.
It’s the classic McQueen next but all are welcome etc.
We have loud things on the range from time to time but there is only one Gary and his M44′ Spare a thought for the chap next to him!
Washout, pity really.
On a brighter note the next shoot is a Gallery Rifle and a date for your diary is
18 May for a Work Party!
Add it to your diary and come along and help the club
Sundays shoot is the Penguin Trophy that is 2×10 at 300 with a .303 and 2×10 at 600 with a 7.62 target rifle. The TR shooters will go first and then everyone else can shoot and we will organise it so the muzzle brakes don’t upset anyone.
Horsham will be putting in a team although you will probably recognise them.
Scores posted to the results page. The team even was shot with teams of Three and was won by Horsham with 248.16 against our 233.6. We seem to be a bit limited on TR shooters at the moment and had to let two of ours shoot for Horsham. Still it was fun to dig out the 303’s and try to get a decent score on a modern 7.62 target.
It was a good day and all those who turned up enjoyed it.
The next one is a Scoped Rifle so I will try to think up a course of fire that is both challenging and doesn’t take all day to get through – no pressure then.
Chilly but fun
Kept the COF quick as it was cold but those present enjoyed it.
Scores on the results page, see you in two weeks for the Penguin
Happy New Year to you all
Even Happier to those who have renewed their membership for 2019 – Thanks
Sundays Shoot is the Hero shoot, so-called as its likely to be cold and only Heroe’s will turn up. We will start at 100 yards on the Gallery targets and may fall back to 200 yards if there is sufficient demand (and persons willing to go to the Butts)
You can bring what you like to shoot providing it’s within the range limits and legal etc.
See you Sunday
It’s that time again – Christmas Shoot
So a good fun day, Scores on the results page, Well shot all .
Santa did appear and who would have guessed he was sorting a Garand
A rare beast
And many thanks to Mark who provided the Sausage Rolls and Mince pies. I had to get the picture quickly as they mostly went pretty quickly
So thanks to all for your support over the year. Happy Christmas
Now pay your subs and you can come along to the Hero Shoot.
