Service Rifle 2 Sunday 11th May Update

Update – A lovely day for a blast and a great shoot. The scores are on the results page so well shot all and we will see you at the next one that is Gallery rifle.

Sundays shoot is Service Rifle that will be 4 stages with a round count of appx 42.

The Schedule is on the Course of Fire page and is the one with the date reference starting 250511. Make sure you get the right one.

Not much more to say on this, we have done these before so see you then

Watch and Shoot!

Scoped Rifle 27 April UPDATE

Busy day and good weather so plenty to enjoy. Bluebells and spring lambs! The peace was soon upset by the Watch and Shoot as we got going. It was a challenging shoot with three different size targets at 300, 500 on a 300 and 600 on a 500 target, against the clock.

So it was tricky on several levels. The first stage score was divided by 2 (to keep it even) so we got to a score of 50 per stage and a total of 150. Keeping that in mind the total score from Andy R of 145 was an excellent result, Bob and Euan followed with 143 and 140. Well shot all and I trust everyone enjoyed (that’s the point) themselves.

I have added a few photos on the relevant page

See you at the next one that is Service Rifle

Sundays shoot is scoped rifle and the Course of Fire is on the relevant page so download it and get ready with a suitable item and ammo.

I have allowed some more sighters so Im sure you will find it easy!

See you all on Sunday

Sundays Penguin – Update

The scores have been added to the Results page, not a great turn out but it should have been fun, Shooting a 80 to 100 year old Enfield is always a challenge as it proved. The rifles weren’t so old when we started shooting this one! Been doing it for too long, still if it was easy then we wouldn’t be any fun!

The next shoot is a Scoped Rifle so we will see you then.

Sundays shoot is the Penguin that is nominally a shot against a team from Horsham. As most of them are members of Dorking anyway its a tradition rather than anything serious.

It consists of a 303 at 300 and a 7.62 at 600. There are separate categories for TR and scoped and before you get frightened that you don’t have the relevant kit, come along and have a go with whatever you have.

So don’t be shy and we will see you on Sunday.

McQueens, Classic at 200x Sunday 30th Update

Update – Scores on the Results page, Well shot all, it was as tricky as ever and the tiny V bull was still possible to hit. We had lots of people along and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, Whats not to like! – See you at the Scoped Rifle shoot next time.

Sundays shoot is the McQueens at 200 yards that is primarily for Classic rifles. This means although its closer the v bull is tiny! There will be separate classes for Classic scoped rifles and for Modern scoped rifles. (so all are welcome).

We do not allow iron sighted rifles on this as it tends to shred the castles but other than that you all know the drill so see you on Sunday.

Note

The clocks go forward on Saturday night/Sunday morning so this will no doubt create chaos in the start time but we will commence at 09:30 as normal so change your clocks and turn up on time. Coffee on arrival if someone brings the milk!

Gallery Rifle Sunday 2 March

Sundays shoot is Gallery rifle at 100 yards. It needs no introduction so this is an excellent opportunity to give those rarely seen items an outing.

Whilst you may know the drill for the shoot I have to remind you that there is a strict process on Guests and this cannot be ‘flexed’ Guests have to be pre approved at least 48 hours in advance via Steve and all shootings will need to have their own insurance and a SSC.

Please don’t turn up with an extra body as its awkward to turn them away.

If you have any queries then please ask in advance.

Sunday 16 February 600 Practice Update

Im told it was a successful if not chilly day so Im glad everyone enjoyed themselves. I note the biscuits were located and mostly finished so that whilst disappointing for me is better for my diet.

I have a number of pictures to post from this shoot and the Service Rile one (thanks to Lee) so these are going on the Pictures page so they remain accessible.

See you at the next one that is a Gallery shoot.

No Valentines? No problem we love you at Dorking (if you have paid your renewal fee) so come along to our 600 yard practice and pull the trigger on your favourite firearms.

Weather looks good and there is shelter in the club house (and a secret biscuit store) if you fine them then leave some for me.

Sadly I’m going to be laid up but the team will be there to sort you out (wont you).

I will see you when I can so cheer me up with some pictures of the fun.

Enjoy

Service Rifle 1 Sunday 2 February – UPDATE

Update – Freezing but fun!

The 100 and 200 yard points remained in the shade all morning so it was freezing! The padlocks froze as well so that was a challenge to get everything started. However that aside we had a decent shoot and a fair turnout. The scores were up to their usual high standard. The scores are on the results page.

We have hopefully all now warmed up a bit but it was worth the effort.

Enjoy the next one and it may even be warmer!

Lee took plenty of pictures so I will add them over the next few days

Sundays shoot is Service rifle. The schedule is on the Course of Fire page

I think by now you all know about this type of event although we have reduced the round count from 52 to 42 rounds to save on ammo costs. Im not 100% sure if this is desired or not so if you want these back to 52 then you will have to let me know either way.

So download the COF, Grab your bang stick and waterproofs and I will see you on Sunday

Gallery Shoot 19 January

Sundays shoot is a Gallery Rifle at 100 yards. Hopefully better weather than the last one but we managed ok then (in case anyone was wondering).

So time to (renew your membership) and bring out those oddities from the back of the gun cabinet and give them a whirl.

See you then

Hero Shoot Sunday 5th

Sundays shoot is for Heroes only (given the likely weather) so the macho will turn up tomorrow and whilst the program says 100 and 200 on manual targets the weather may have a say in this.

So if its possible we will stick to the program but if the weather is awful (as is forecast) we will shoot from 600 where there will be shelter (along with Biscuits and Coffee).

So if you are wise (aside from bringing the correct clothing) bring along a bang stick that will shoot from 600. If you turn up with a .22 it could be difficult.

The general idea for this shoot is to bring along what you fancy using but we may well be at 600.

See you then.

Welcome to 2025

Another year and here we go again! We have added the provisional program to the relevant page with files in PDF and Word to download and get ready for the year ahead.

We have made a few changes and will be moving some things around. The Service Rifle shoots have been reduced to 4 details as there have been suggestions that the round count is too high given the ammo costs. In general its business as usual but the TR is not well supported so these wont remain in the program for ever if people dont want them.

We will be reviewing the lead ban and see how we can deal with this and will update you when we have a strategy and as ever if you dont use them you will loose them (you know what I mean)!

So Happy New Year and see you on the range.
