The Range Booking is finalised and below:-
See you Sunday at your allotted time.
If there is a problem then let me know.
Above is a picture from the last shoot and it went well for the most part. There are some things to make clear as we work out the details:-
So that’s it for now, email your booking requests and we will see you on Sunday at 500 yards
The Bookings have been received and the schedule is published below.
Please stick to the rules for your slots and for those of you who have booked we will see you on Sunday.
All shoots for the foreseeable future will be a single distance practice using 4 targets with one shooter per target using a pre-booked 20 minute slot.
Remember the rules:-
200520 Dorking Rifle Club Reopening Shoot Strategy V1
Report – It all worked, we discovered that the leads between the monitors are 3m long so we could use all 4 targets.
We had a successful day and will be shooting again in two weeks time at 600 yards. The same booking arrangement will apply and I will put up a new post about this on the Monday prior to the shoot.
See you next time.
Update – The following members have confirmed bookings and the slots are outlined in the attachement. See you on Sunday and remember the rules See lower down the post.
We are undertaking a limited re opening of the range but under very different circumstances.
Shooting will be by appointment only by booking in advance by emailing:-
dorkingr@gmail.com
The new rules are:-
200520 Dorking Rifle Club Reopening Shoot Strategy
The range booking will look like this:-
You will be allocated a slot on a first come first served basis. The rules are strict so read the strategy. There will no exceptions.
Sunday’s shoot is an experiment and if it works ok, we will allow more users in two weeks’ time for the next one. We can only use three targets at the moment but we might get to 4 if we can get some longer leads made up.
Sunday will be at 300 yards for 10 members with the slots starting at 10am.
Remember
We will see what happens and take it from there.
We continue to exist in these rather strange times so I hope you are all ok and making the most of the circumstances. Plenty of time to load some ammo or make sure all the kit is cleaned although I have to admit I have not had time to do either.
We are all looking forward to getting back to shooting and Mark is keeping an eye on the range it should all be good to go when we are allowed out.
I do have some news and as some of you may know our Jeff has been extremely ill with the virus but is at last recovering to the point of being able to comment on Instagram.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
Stay safe and we will reunite with an expenditure of ammo as soon as we can.
It is with regret that we have to announce that shooting is suspended until further notice. We cant take the risk anyway and will review the situation as the news progresses.
We will provide an update when we know more and hopefully be able to restart events later in the year.
Stay safe
Sundays shoot is a Gallery Rifle at 100 yards so bring the items looking lonely in the cupboard. You know the drill for these by now.
As regards the current concerns regarding the Corvid-19 virus you should be fairly safe outdoors but try not to breath over each other and possibly best to avoid physical contact (handshakes, kissing etc.)
If anyone feels the risk is too great then it’s a personal choice for you to attend or not as you see fit.
I expect we will see the usual suspects and I wish I was coming along myself. Unfortunately I have a three line whip at a christening and I can’t get out of it.
The shoot after this is a Service Rifle so I will sort out a course of fire etc.
Enjoy
Scoped Rifle – Stop Press – No Rain and not too much wind!
This was a bit of a first for this shoot and a strong turnout with some excellent scores put in with some tricky conditions and difficult targets. This is a work in progress shoot and I still haven’t got it right so I will continue to refine it. It was fun though so looking forward to the next one.
Scores on the Results page.
Some pictures from Chris who is our official photographer.
See you at the next one – Gallery Rifle
And our driver
Firstly a big thanks to all of those who came along to the work party (some party!). Its really appreciated and we got some much needed repairs done. This included some very heavy work on the butts, 100 yard hut roof and 100 yard hand rails along with some other things.
Thanks again for turning out.
And so to the Scoped Rifle. As usuual this shoot is always challenged by the weather and this week will probably be the same.
We will give it a go and the course of fire is on the COF page but its below as well.
See you Sunday
Well those that came along got a bit wet but we enjoyed ourselves and had a good blast at 600. As it turned out it wasnt that bad and we hve dried everything out now.
Thanks again to Chris who took the photos and zeroed his new toy
See you at the work party on Saturday.
On a brighter note the weather for Saturday 22 February is looking like sunshine and clear. Thats good news as we have a work party on that day to do some work on the stop butts and the 100 yard hut roof (and other fun jobs besides) so if you feel like supporting the club (so there remains a club to support) then come along and lend a hand. We start at 9. If you bring biscuits we will happily share them.
Enjoy – roll on summer.
Sunday’s shoot was the first Service Rifle shoot of the year. The scores are on the Results page – well shot all. An enjoyable day and we didnt get wet although it was muddy.
As ever we have Chris to thank for the photos below that give a good idea of the day enjoyed by all.
the next shoot is the Penguin – 2 x 10 with a 303 at 300 and a modern or TR at 600.
