Service Rifle 3, Sunday 13 May – Updated

A great day with better weather than anticipated so that was a bonus.

The scores are on the results page, well shot to all and in particular Steve G in the classic category (188) and Bob S in the modern (200).

I was going to have a rant about all the black patches being used up but then I realised that the course of fire and attendance was about 1000 rounds in the morning. Not all those hit but it uses up the patches. At least we have plenty in stock this time.

Some pictures of the day

The next shoot is a Gallery Rifle so bring the toys along. Some who got a less than perfect scores maybe coud do with doing some zeroing!

See you then.

AGM Sunday 29 April – Updated + Scores

Results

Scores on the results pages – very well shot by some (not me though). TR was won by Rob B with a 103.13 and the scoped by Paul U with a 105.12.

Scores on the results page, any mistakes then let me know as it’s probably my fault.

AGM – Job done, no drama, business as usual and a profitable year.

Next shoot is a Service Rifle.

Note – we will have a Work Party on Sunday 17 June – can’t wait & details to follow. Remember the club is run for you by volunteers so help if you can.

The clubs AGM is on Sunday 29 April in the club house. Nominally it will take place at 2pm but if we finish the shoot early then we may bring it forward a bit.

So this means – don’t be late!

The agenda is here:-

DDRC_AGM_Agenda_2018

2017 AGM Minutes

DDRC_AGM_Minutes_30-04-17_(for 2016)

We don’t have any earth shattering things to discuss or announce as its pretty much business as usual. If you have questions to submit then please do so in advance if you want an answer on  the day.

Remember – rumours are destabilising so if you want to know what the club is doing then ask the committee and don’t rely on third hand information & assumptions.

The shoot is the Kirby Cup that is a Queens 1. That is to say its 2 x 7 at 3/5/6.TR shooters first then scoped and then the Muzzle break stuff for each distance. You know the usual drill.

See you on Sunday

Classic McQueen Sunday 15 April Updated

Busy day with a good turn out. Some very nice looking kit on display with classic rifles, 4T, L42, K98 and M41b. Scores were ok for the classics but is a small target to hit with a 3.5 power scope. Rob B got the highest classic score but it was with a P14 & Unertl x16 scope so it’s a challengeable qualification in the classic category. Still we aren’t that fussy and it was a fun day and its about having a decent shoot and not waving the rule book around.

The modern shooters did well and Andy B who hasn’t been along for a while hasn’t lost his touch.  The V count was low as it was all shot on a Fig14 200 target that has a tiny V bull.

The scores are on the results page and if there are any mistakes then it’s probably my fault!

The next shoot is the Kirby Cup and the AGM Afterwards

Service Rifle 2 Sunday 1 April 2018 – Update

The course of fire has been added to the COF page. Its changed a bit and we will be starting at 300 yards for a change so make sure you get properly sighted in.

The usual rules apply so see you on Sunday.

Update – Scores on the results page – good day. We will keep the 300 yard stage etc.

Now the results really are there, I forgot to save the page.

Below is a pic of the 100 yard standing detail We should really have some more photos (email them to me if you have them). We were too busy enjoying ourselves to take pictures!

See you next time for the classic Mc Queen at 200. this is primarily for classic sniper rifles but all are welcome.

Scoped Rifle 1 Sunday 4 March – Updated

We continue to experiment with this shoot and I have added the course of fire to the COF page. Its still a bit work in progress but the next iteration is on Sunday. As we will be going in and out of the butts and changing ranges you are asked to keep your kit to a minimum so essential kit only to make shifting around easier.

To ensure things move quickly we will be getting the rilfes off the point quickly and you can go back for your empties after the guns are off. You will need to have a decent zero and about 50 rounds plus sighters.

No idea what the weather will be but its likely to be cold so wrap up well and dont hang around looking at your feet when its time to shoot or go to the butts.

Scores on the Results page – well shot all.

The Penguin Match – updated

A Foggy start but it cleared away and was a pretty decent day in the end. A good turnout, particularly for the 303 shoot at 300. There was a great deal of frustration in trying to shoot a post foresight using a round bull target. Most of us managed to vertically string the shots along with the heavy trigger pulls so get some not great scores. Going from a modern rifle back to one over 70 years old is a real challenge, We should probably do more of it.

The 600 shoot went fine although it was the first dusting off of the TR rifles with probably predictable results. This shoot is nominally a match against Horsham Rifle Club and one way or another we will get some teams together.

I don’t have the results yet so keep an eye on the site and I will post them when they are to hand.

The next shoot is Scoped Rifle 1 so I will work on the course of fire as we are trying to make these a bit more interesting / challenging.

UPDATE

The scores have been added to the results page. Well shot all. We had more 303 shooters that we have had for a while. Unfortunately Horsham were only able to provide 2 team members so the teams have been set to the top 2 shooters from each club.

That being the case Dorking won – we have not won this for a while so we are delighted to achieve this. The Top score on the say was Rob B who did very will with his SMLE, this comp is won with the 303 score as they are tricky to shoot on a modern target. We may have to consider making up some Top Hat targets for this in future.

There is a slight caveat in the scores and I have to declare ain interest here as I am also a member of Horsham Rifle Club. If i take the top 3 scores and put myself in Horsham (removing myself from the Dorking team) then they win by a whisker. My score has never been that important!

So as a member of Horsham and Chairman of Dorking its a tricky choice. I had better stick with Dorking but I will make it up to George and Rob with some liquid consolation at some point.

Update

I have had to redo the scores as I got some of them wrong. It was a tie in scores between Horsham and Dorking with them creeping ahrad on V Bulls 163.5 V 163.13.

Close but no cigar for Dorking this time. Bu**er!

If you enjoyed the TR 303 we can fit some more in some time – let me know.

See you at the Scoped Rifle event next time.

Service Rifle 1 Sunday 4 February

Course of Fire Posted to the COF page.

Scores added to the Results Page. Well Shot all, particularly Steve who proves you don’t need a fancy modern rifle to put in a good score.

The next shoot is the Penguin. 2/10 aith a 303 at 300 yards and 2×10 with a 7.62 at 600 yards. It is a TR match against Horsham but all welcome.

Sundays Practice

It Didnt Rain!    It Snowed!

Still it didn’t stop us and we had a chilly but enjoyable shoot. The next one is Service Rifle and I will post the course of fire at some point before the shoot.

See you then. Make sure you have paid your membership before you come to the shoot.

Practice Shoot Sunday 21 January

The weather forecast for Sunday is Awful and there are promises of all sorts of liquid misery and wind. We have a 100 and 200 yard practice in the calendar but i strongly advise shooters to be flexible.

We may have the shoot at 100 and 600 so there is a bit more shelter. So if you are coming along – don’t let the weather put you off, I suggest waterproof clothing and a firearm that is weatherproof and will shoot out to 600 if we end up back at the club house for some warmth and shelter.

It is a practice so we can decide on the day but prepare the possibility of a longer range shoot.

See you Sunday.
