Service Rifle Shoot 23 May 2021 Updated

UPDATE Scores on the Results page – well done all – Good fun, See you on the next one.

Is back to normal so the next shoot will be a Service Rifle on Sunday 23 May. We are taking a cautious approach to reopening more fully so please be sensible.

Its been a while since we have done one of these so just to remind you we will start at 09:30 with the first detail at 100 yards and take it from there. You will need around 52 rounds to include sighters and you will be expected to do your turn in the buts (maybe more than once) and we will be mixing on the range all at the same time.

The club house will be open at times for signing in but will be locked during the shoot as we will be at the other end of the range.

The course of fire is below:-

Please read the COF in advance and be at the range on time wilt all your kit in time for a 09:30 Start. It will take us a while to remember how it all works but I think most of us are looking forward to a change or pace. If there are any questions then contact me via the club address.

Please note the revised shooting program for the remainder of the year.

See you on Sunday

Reopening Programme

With a view to the lifting of the restrictions the site has been updated with a revised shooting program (Back to Normal) for the remainder of the year.

The next shoot on 23/5 is Service Rifle so instead of booking it will start at 09:30 just like the old days.

200 Yard Shoot Booking Closed

Booking is now closed or the next shoot on Sunday 2 May

The Booking is in the link below

Note – since WordPress was updated to an ‘updated Version’ its really awkward to insert links the way the perfectly good old version used to do – apparently its progress! (FFS)

Looking a bit further ahead we may get a stage on from the restrictions from Monday 17 May so after that date we may be back to being unrestricted so expect a revised program with us all being able to meet without a booking and I will add some different events. I’m Thinking Service Rifle and McQueen and some sort of comp with some recorded scores.

We wont know what to do with ourselves!

Until then we go on as we are and maintain a cautious approach

Range Reopening

We hope to reopen the range with the first shoot on 4th April. It is going to be a 200 yard pre-booked event like we did last year. As its not clear if we can reopen yet and it all depends on the Government guidance etc.

When we know a bit more and have some confirmation we will open the booking and get sorted out the way we did last year.

Dont email now – its just a heads up at this point.

See you soon (We Hope)

Ted Molyneux

I regret to inform all of you that our former member, chairman, Secretary, President Ted Molyneux passed away at the weekend.

Ted was probably the longest serving member in the history of the Dorking and District Rifle Club. He joined the club before the outbreak of World War 2 and remained in service with the club until he resigned in 2013. During that time he helped the club through the war years and served as Secretary, Chairman and President, a post he occupied until his resignation from the club. Ted was a committed supporter of the club which will always owe him a debt of thanks for keeping it operating through some very difficult times.

Hope you are all doing ok and we look forward to continuing with the operation of the club when we can.

All the best

Practice Shoot

Some Pictures from the last practice (Thanks Chris) Looks like you had fun.

My view that day was a bit different – not as dramatic as it looked but you wouldn’t wander about!

Note there is a large gun safe that is free to someone to collect it (Its very heavy) and can be collected from somewhere in Wimbledon. If you are interested then the details are on the ad.

The next shoot is Service Rifle and I will sort out and post the COF when I get a minute.

Happy New Year  – Pay your subs or you are not going to be covered by the insurance after the end of the month.
