Home Office Consultation

There is a new Home Office Consultation about tightening firearms licencing so you are advised / (required as members) to fill in the survey or risk further restrictions.

The link is tot he Survey and the BASC guidelines for filling it in. It only takes a few minutes and its worth doing or face more trouble with restrictions and FAC difficulties.

This is the BASC Link

Changing rules on gun ownership – action required – BASC

It basically takes you to some notes on the survey, a link to complete it and recommended answers. We cant make it any easier for you so please help by filling it in.

Thanks

Service Rifle 4 Sunday 9 July – UPDATE

Update – A small band of shooters today, perhaps some thought the weather would be bad but as it turned out we got no rain and had a good shoot, not too crowded so less work and an early finish. Lee took some great pictures (including airborne cases) and I have added one here and a number of them on the photos page.

The scores are on the results page, well shot all, well except me, the new toy needs bit more work So Mark is still the top M1 man (for now!)

The next shoot is a 300 and 500 practice

Sundays shoot is Service rifle with classes for Modern and Historic rifles. The COF is on the Course of Fire page so make sure you have read it and turn up on time with the required amount of ammunition etc.

Im sure you have shot this before so you know the drill. Weather should be good so we will see you on Sunday.

McQueen 300x Sunday 25th Update

Phew! what a scorcher!

Despite the heat there was some good shooting with Steve and Mark getting 50.10 each. There were 9 scores of 50’s so well shot all.

Just remember the club is run by volunteers so when asked please do a turn in the butts.

The next shoot is Service Rifle – see you then.

Sunday’s shoot is a McQueen at 300 yards for modern scoped rifles. If you have shot this before then you know what to expect and if you have not then why not come along and have a go.

As its may be busy then please ensure you are ready so we can get the details run through promptly and without delay. We will need regular butt changes etc.

Weather looks promising so I will see you on Sunday

Knight Cup / Gellibrand Shield Sunday 11 June Updated

Update –

Sounds like it was a good day and the scores are on the results page. Thanks to Steve for sorting these out. Seems like the tree that for years has been poised to fall on the roof has done so! We fixed the roof recently so we will have to try to repair or replace this in fairly short order. This may cause some disruption so some shoots may be amended but we will let you know.

I was sorry to miss the shoot and had to make do with a quick visit to a range in Nashville where everything is full auto! Gets through the ammo quick.

The next shoot is a Modern McQueens but this is subject to our being able to get the relevant kit out of the damaged shed. We will advise closer the time.

Sundays shoot is a Queens 2 with 2×10 at at 300, 500 and 600 yards. It should be a good opportunity to test your elevations and will require rifles to be zeroed before and attendees to be organised so it doesn’t take all day.

Target Rifles will shoot first followed by others and all are welcome so don’t be put off and waste an opportunity for a good days shooting in what will most likely be fine weather.

Perhaps Black Powder isnt the right thing to use but below is an excellent picture courtesy of Lee, caught just before Andy obscures the targets.

Service Rifle 3 Sunday 14 May Update

Update

Fine weather and no rain, spring is hear and the sound of the spring lambs was shattered by the third Service Rifle Shoot of this hears program. A select band turned out with two new visitors to the range, Peter and Sam (we have another Sam) so this could get confusing!

The scores are on the results page so well shot all, Classic was won by Mark with his trusty M1 carbine and a score of 209 x250. In the modern class Kevin managed an impressive 250 x 250. To be fair the athletics and rifle weight of the day meant that he shot it all prone with a bipod so the true score to win was 214 buy yours truly with a modern scoped CISCAR and a x10 scope. Only 5 more than an iron sighted 80 year old carbine. The field is wide open so whatever you shoot then come along and have a try.

The next shoot is a Gallery Rifle and there is NO work party after so no reason to hide away. – See you then.

Sundays shoot is Service Rifle so bring yourself and about 52 rounds to the range for the SR shoot. I’m sure you all know the drill by now with categories for Classic and modern.

The program is on the Course of Fire page and is dated 14/5 so please take a look at the right one, be ready for the stages so we can move the day along promptly.

See you on Sunday and we will probably have to move the work party that was scheduled for the next shoot to later in the year as we are waiting for some sand to be delivered.

See you Sunday

Classic McQueens 200x Sunday 16th Update

Update –

Busy day with 15 details x 4 shooters so lots of opportunities to chase the extremely small V Bull!. Some excellent scores in the Modern category with Dan getting a 50.6 . Its a difficult shoot and much harder than it looks.

The classic was won by Steve with a 46 so with an 80 year old gun then that’s good going as well. Geoff wanted everyone to know he got a better score than me so I am duty bound to report this! We were in different categories and his 31 with a new gun doesn’t actually beat my 36 with an older one so not quite this time! (I think he meant my rather disappointing 4).

Still it was a great day and it was fine weather and a good turn out.

The next one is a Gallery rifle followed by a committee meeting, not the AGM as advertised, that will be later in the year.

Sundays shoot is the Classic McQueens at 200 yards. Primarily this is for classic sniper rifles but all scoped rifles are welcome and there will be a separate class for modern rifles.

The V bull is extremely small for 200 but don’t let that put you off as you have to hit the figure 14 first!

So lets hope for decent weather and we will see you on Sunday.

Service Rifle 2 Sunday 2 April – Update

Sundays shoot is Service Rifle and the Course of Fire is on the COF page with the date for 2nd April. Please have a read and be prepared.

I can warn you in advance there is a standing / kneeling stage so that’s something to look forward to!

Update

Not too many people along today, not sure why as the weather was fine so a select band had an enjoyable day out. Whats not to like!

Scores on the results page – See you next time for the Classic McQueens

Sunday 19 March

Sundays shoot is Gallery Rifle at 100 yards. Most of you will have done this before so you know the drill. Time to get the rarely used things out and give them an airing.

See you tomorrow. Weather may even be dry!

Scoped Rifle 1 Sunday 5th -Update

Cracking shoot with a challenging course of fire and some good scores that are now posted on the results page. Well shot all – see you at the next one (Gallery Rifle).

Sundays shoot is scoped rifle and I have posed the COF on the Course of Fire page so you can study it in advance. Please be ready for each stage. You will need about 45 rounds to complete.

The shoot will be at 300, 500 and 600 yards so it should be interesting enough to keep you all amused.

See you then
