The course of fire has been added to the COF page. Due to popular demand we will be continuing with the 5 practice format so the round count will be at least 52 rounds.

Garrick & Whyte Cup 16 March 2015
The results for todays shoot are on the results page and everyone had a decent shoot despite the damp conditions. Many thanks to Sid who replaced the sensor on Target 2 giving us a full complement of targets.
The club house construction continues with most of the improvements being inside in terms of flooring and partitions etc. The verandah floor should go on soon as the supports and gravel base are in place. AS you can see from the photo the roof is on and completed so we can make significant progress internally.
See you at the next shoot
McQueen Modern Round 1 2015
The weather was supposed to be bad but it turned out nice and we had a good attendance with plenty of shooting and no rain. The scores are on the results page and before you think they are lower than last time we had to shoot at 300 yards on 200 yard faces so it was a smaller scoring rings. Some impressive shooting all round and a great day.
The club house moves ever forward:-
A nice big verandah for those wet days and visions of hot coffee in the winter – not long now!
If you have not shot the McQueen then this rather wobbly video may help you see what it’s all about and encourage you to come along and have a go. We have a club Accuracy International AE with a decent Sightron scope so there is no excuse!
Apologies fo the video quality – I will pack a tripod next time.
The next shoot is TR Arthur Whyte / Garrick Cup, We may get Chichester along to liven up the competition a bit.
Dont forget to pay your membership if you have not done so already.
The Penguin Team Shoot & 303 Trophy
The targets worked and the sun shone! So that made it a good day for a shoot in February. To be fair the sun was a bit of a pain as it was right in your face at 500 yards, it made the targets difficult to see. Didn’t seem to slow some people down though and some impressive scores were submitted.
The Horsham Team won the Penguin again but this time it was not a total thrashing and there was only a 5 point difference between the two teams. Rob Bennett was the top shot with an overall score of 140.12 for one 303 shoot (300x) and two with a 7.62 (300x & 500x)
The 303 Trophy was won by Rob Bennett (Again) with an 81.5 but Mark Pescud got an 81.4 and Martin Woolger an 80.4 so it was tight at the top.
Well shot to all who came along and enjoyed the day. Than ks to all those who helped out and lent a hand – it’s always welcome.
The club house is coming along and we hope to have this mostly finished towards the end of April. The next objectives are the restoration of the 600 yard firing point. A full program of work on the targets and repairs to the roof of the target shed.
McQueens Modern @ 300 yards next.
Service Rifle 1 18 January 2015
Well its a new year and we have a course of fire on the COF Page relating to this weekends shoot. As an experement we have added a 5th stage to the course to add a bit of variety and some extra shooting for those that want something extra.
So the optional 5th practice is a mad minute. If there is insufficient demand to shoot (or it pours with rain like last time) it wont be run. It will be optional so if a majority present wants to shoot it then the scores will be out of 5 details, if only a few then the overall scores will be out of 4.
We will sort it out on the day depending on demand, time etc.
So Read the course of fire
Bring some extra ammo (at least 52 rounds)
The Hero Shoot Updated
Hero Shoot, January 4th 2015
Happy New Year to all
Its raining today but promises better for the Hero Shoot on Sunday. This shoot is to be held at 200 yards and you can bring what you want (provided it’s within the range limits) Shooting will be decided on the day depending on who brings what and what you want to do.
The Electronic Targets are playing up and we will be undertaking some serious maintenance and repairs as soon as the Agent returns from holiday and we can order the parts.
With this in mind we will change the program around depending on the target availability for the early part of this year.
For this shoot it will be hand-held and McQueen etc depending on demand.
Early arrival is recommended if you wish to influence the days events.
Dorking Christmas & 2015 Provisional Program
The results of the Christmas Shoot are on the relevant page and a good time was had by all. It seems that the targets have developed a further fault that is different to the ones we experienced earlier this year. We will endeavor to resolve these as soon as possible but it may lead to some shoot disruption so check the web site regularly for an update.
We have a provisional program for 2015 here:-
The shooting program is subject to change as required by circumstances.
A Shoot Record is available so you can keep track of your Firearm Use. We keep an attendance list but it is up to you to record which firearm you use as well. You are not obliged to do so but expect questions from the police if you don’t.
I am told that the Club house construction has started but I am not sure how far we have got. I will post a picture when I next visit the range.
Wishing you all the compliments of the season and see you at the Hero Shoot in January
Scoped Rifle & Christmas Shoot
The Scoped Rifle Round 2 is on Sunday 7th and will be the same as the round 1, being 2×15 at 300 and 500 yards. The scores will pe posted at some point when I get them and I will attempt to calculate the overall positions over the two shoots. There will be a delay of a day or two in posting as I am overseas etc.
The Christmas Shoot is the week after on the 14th and will be along the same lines as last year. The course of fire is on the relevant page or here:-
141214 Dorking Christmas Shoot
Essentially shooting will be in pairs and the entry fee is a gift to the value of £5.00 wrapped etc. No Gift No shoot. Bring along a scoped and or service rifle and if you don’t have one the club guns will be available and be prepared to share with others.
We will have some 7.62 ammo available but last time I looked we were short on 303.
Its supposed to be fun so enjoy yourselves.
Happy Christmas to all – Is it that time already!!
Service Rifle 5 23 November Update & Results
Congratulations to the hardy few who turned out for the shoot. Not many but enough to do two full details of the COF and to give us a decent albeit wet shoot.
Well shot Graham Cole who managed an excellent 114 shooting a SMLE Sniper (without the scope fitted) A lovely rifle and worth turning up for just to see it. If it were mine it would never come out in the wet!
Was it worth it? well yes better than sitting around at home despite the fact that it will take longer to dry the kit out than to shoot. My No 4 needed a complete strip to get all the water out of the crevices, still its an opportunity to give it a decent clean. I just hope I can remember where all the fiddly little screws went!
The whole range is waterlogged so lets hope it dries out in time for the Scoped Rifle shoot in two weeks time. Scores on the results page.
